Severall Friends: Gardens of Earthly Delights

  • San Miguel Chapel 401 Old Santa Fe Trail, Santa Fe (map)

The great Elizabethan gardens were strange masterpieces which combined nature and art in lovely and unsettling ways. They provided inspiration for poets and composers of the era. Severall Friends, is a consortium of musicians who gather to play a broad spectrum of early music from Machaut to Rameau, will perform music for voice and strings by William Byrd, Anthony Holborne, Thomas Campion, and other Tudor masters. Feature musicians include Emily Noël, soprano; Robert Eisenstein, Lawrence Lipnik, Mark Rimple, Mary Springfels, strings, and Desirée Mays, reader.
